Structural Heart Program
Our Heart Valve Team is made up of a multidisciplinary group of physicians and nurses that work closely together to develop a comprehensive treatment strategy for failing heart valves. Our team consists of experts in interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, and advanced cardiac imaging. With the use of specialized noninvasive testing we will determine if a patient requires an intervention to repair or replace their heart valve. Through our heart team approach, the most appropriate treatment option, including catheter based interventions or surgery will be determined.
Structural Heart Procedures:
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
This minimally invasive procedure replaces a damaged aortic valve without removing it or surgically opening the chest
- Atrial Appendage Closure (Watchman Implant)
This implantable device reduces the risk of stroke in people with atrial fibrillation, offering an alternative to taking long term blood thinner medication.
The Structural Heart program also treats a common heart defects such as patent foramen ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defect (ASD).
